Privacy Policy

The Refinery is a personal life-coaching app: morning intentions, evening reflection, prayer, journaling, habit and health tracking, and an AI coach that responds to what you write. It's a small, independently-run app, not a company product.

The Refinery, including its AI coach, is meant for personal growth and reflection only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, or emotional care, and it does not diagnose, treat, or provide therapy. If you're in crisis or need immediate support, please contact a licensed professional or a crisis line in your area.

Depending on which parts of the app you use, we store:

• Your account info (email, display name) via Supabase, our authentication and database provider.
• What you write: morning intentions, evening reflections, journal entries, prayer lists, todos, and the AI coach's responses to them.
• Health-adjacent logs you choose to track: sleep, screen time, prayer counts, habits, diet, weight, and quit-smoking progress.
• Photos you attach to accomplishments, stored via Supabase Storage.
• Messages you send to friends within the app, and friend connections.
• Payment information when you subscribe or make a purchase, processed entirely by Stripe -- we never see or store your card details ourselves.
• A push notification token (web or, in the app, an Apple/Google device token) if you enable reminders or chat notifications.
• Basic usage data: when you last opened the app, which reminders you've enabled, and similar operational details needed to make the app work.

What you write in Morning, Evening, and Prayer is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the AI coach's response -- that's the core feature of the app. If you use the "read aloud" option, that same text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio. Neither is used for anything beyond generating that one response for you.

Everything else you log (habits, scorecard, diet, fitness) is used only to show it back to you -- trends, streaks, and history -- and, if you explicitly choose to share it, with friends you've connected with in the app.

We don't sell or share your data with advertisers. The only outside parties involved are:

• Supabase -- hosts the database, authentication, and file storage.
• Anthropic -- generates the AI coach's responses to what you write.
• ElevenLabs -- generates audio if you use the read-aloud feature.
• Stripe -- processes any payments; we never receive your full card number.
• Vercel -- hosts the app itself.

Content you explicitly mark as shared with friends or posted to the public wall is visible to the people you shared it with, or to anyone using the app, respectively -- that visibility is always something you choose per item.

• You can delete individual entries, accomplishments, and habit logs yourself, any time.
• You can turn off any reminder or notification from your Profile settings.
• You can request your account and all associated data be deleted entirely by contacting us (below) -- we'll remove it within a reasonable time.

The Refinery isn't directed at children and requires users to be 18 or older -- see the Terms of Service for the full age requirement.

If what we collect or how we use it changes meaningfully, we'll update this page and note the change in the app's changelog.
